1. The original, Han shot first. That should be the definitive version.
2. 1990s rerelease, Greedo shot first. Too many people complained, so...
3. The 2000s release, they both shoot at the same time.

In the ORIGINAL version, Han shot first, but George, wanting to show that Han was a decent guy, recut it to have Greedo shoot first.

Yeah in the original 1977 cut Han solo shoots first because thats the kind of guy he is, a scoundrel.
In the 90's re-released digitally remastered ruin my childhood version they made it so Greedo shots so that Hans character would not seem as flawed, what a load of c*@p
In the original Han shot first which I think that's what it's like in the novel. Greedo was never as good a bounty hunter as Boba Fett anyways.
Depends on which "version" of the movie you are talking about. In the original from '77 Han shot first; In the SE version Greedo shot first ... and just like almost all bad guys, he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a Mac truck ... so Han shot back. In the DVD version they shoot at the same time. Most of the "changes" made worked well but this is one of the ones that fans didn't like ... go figure.
