Last night ? Tilda Swinton is British I believe.

Claudette Colbert won Best Actress in the 1934 romantic comedy directed by Frank Capra called 'It Happened One Night', along with co-star and leading man Clark Gable, who won the oscar for Best Actor.

I know that Juliette Binoche won a few years ago - are you thinking of her?

juilette binoche is the only other women to have won at the oscars, julie delphy has been nominated for one but never won

Simone Signoret won in 1960 for "Room at the Top".

Hopefully Catherine Denueve.

I'm French so I may help you
Juliette Binoche won an award in 1996 for the English Patient: it was different from Marion for two reasons:
1. Juliette Binoche won for a supporting role vs Marion for a leading role
2. marion's picture is French vs Juliette's one was English (or American )
Marion is the 1st French actress to win a best leading actress since Simone Signoret in 1959
here in France Marion's win is great because she's the 2d winner in all awards' history for a picture which is not an English speaking one
Other French actresses have been nomintated: Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Adjani, Marie-Christine Barrault (and Juliette Binoche one more time for the Chocolate) but never won
