I thought Alien3 was as good as the others in the series. Am i alone in this?!
Question: It had the potential to be so much more.
Unfortunately, the constant changing of writers & production staff handicapped it to a degree that only a complete re-do would repair convincingly.
However, it *was* a good film, with a decent storyline & incredibly good actors. And i enjoyed it fully.
The only real let-down was the "falling into molten pit" scene, that just looked stupid!

The 1st was very good for the suspense and fear of the unknown (although now dated)
The 2nd Was Fantastic... it had everything (the best one in my opinion)
The 3rd I thought was a bit of a let down, some back end prison colony staring overly characteristic characters.. when there was scope for so much more.. just imagine if the setting was Earth
Not alone. But I'd guess you didn't grow up with the series and understand the contemporary films when each was released.
Alien was a Sci Fi haunted house movie with amazing special effects for the period.
Aliens came out around the time of Platoon and a slew of war movies so was an action adventure.
Alien3 was a much darker brooding drama.
All were good films in their own right but the power of each film diminishes its sequel.
You're way out there on your own. This prison based movie did not have any guns because Sig. Weaver didn't want any. Because of this PC bu....it it failed.
