Question: No. "The Big Lebowski" was made in '98. "Napolean Dynamite" didn't come out until a few years ago. So, in generalization, "Napolean Dynamite" is just "The Big Lebowski" for kids.
However, my view is that these films are just plain different. "The Big Lebowski" takes place in 1991, just about the time of our conflict with Sadd'm and Eye-rackies. Yet, it has a late 60's early 70's vibe comin' from it, mainly from the soundtrack, you know, the Creedence. Napolean Dynamite, on the other hand, has a different feel, the time setting isn't something the creators of the film want to make known.
