I think what you're looking for is called "Spanking the Monkey" ... saw it on IFC the other day. (IMO it was a lousy film. Wouldn't recommend watching it).
could it be bad boy bubby where the son is 30ish and not all there his mothere told him thats the air outside is poisonus and nobody can go out without a gas mask on? i hope this helps
