Planet of the Apes (original)~This was THE ending people talked about for a very long time! People still refer to it as their favorite twist ending, even more than "Psycho". It's definitely an iconic image, perhaps the first Liberty head was shown, signifying the destruction. I always wondered: Did the statue break apart, or had the landmass risen that much?

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry~This is a WOW ending I didn't expect, and I'm rather good at spotting where the story is going. I would have been in my teens when this film played, likely at our drive-in. So, why did no one talk about this amazing ending?! If not a twist, it's unexpected. Sure, Larry drives recklessly but...

Carrie~This film set a pattern for a last-moment shock and has been copied many times.

Perfect Stranger (2007)~This could have been a great twist except Halle Berry is beyond awful in this film and completely wrecks it. But, for the basic story, it's OK.

A Cold Night's Death aka The Chill Factor (1973 TV movie)
Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol (1972 TV movie)
When Strangers Appear~twists upon twists
A Howling in the Woods (1971 TV movie)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (remake)
Red Rover aka The Haunting Within
Still Small Voices (2006 TV movie)
The Devil's Advocate (1997)
Hit Lady (1974 TV movie)
Rinne aka Reincarnation
Count Yorga~Vampire
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
The Uninvited Guest
Race with the Devil
The Medusa Touch
Phantasm~"BOY!"
The Other (1972)
Beneath (2007)
Campire Tales
Population/436
The River King
Psycho (1960)
The Mechanic
Roadgames
Angel Heart
Easy Rider
House of 9
Deepwater
November
Dark City
The Fury
Salvage
Vertigo

Honorable mention:
The Lost Boys~~"One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires!"~Grandpa knew about them the whole time!

I like the twists in all of the above films; it's difficult to comment without giving too much away. Especially interesting are those that take a second or third viewing before you completely grasp what has happened or verify that you truly understood the ending. I love going to IMDB and reading the forum entries debating twist endings; it can get very lively.

The Others
The Sixth Sense

Both are excellent movies...

The Life of David Gale

LETTERS OF A SCANDAL

Primal Fear is good for that

M Night Shamalyan films I find kind of cheat the audience a little, when you watch sixth sense again certain things jar with the ending. Unbreakable is good though.

Just thought of a film with the ultimate wtf ending, Society by Brian Yuzna. You'll need a strong stomache but you def wont see it coming

fight club
memento

~The Usual Suspects
~The Village
~Fight Club
~The Shining

Pyscho. period. end of story.

Oh and Everything is Illuminated

The skeleton key
Hide & seek

saw

I would have to say Identity because you have all of these people at the motel and the ending just blows you away because you did not see it coming. You keep asking yourself who the killer is and going, "I bet it's that guy or that girl."

on a scale of 1-10, ten being the best these movies get a 9
