It is not a ghost. I saw the movie after this myth came out and saw what was the alleged spirit. Ted Danson played an actor and had a cardboard cutout of himself in a tuxedo. In one scene the cut out was in the foreground and was quite large and noticeable. In another scene the cut out was in the background and behind some window curtains but was definitely the same thing and not a ghost. This is a urban myth like the Munchkin hanging myth in the Wizard of Oz which turned out to be a bird in the background. What also makes this myth impossible was the scene was shot before the Munchkinland set so no Munchkin actors were on studio property yet.
It's not a ghost, it's a cardboard cut-out of Ted Danson that was going to be used in a subplot that was cut from the film. You can see said cut-out in other scenes.
