Why does Hollywood likes to 'remake' asian movies?!

Question: The Grudge VS Ju-On (japanese movie)
The Ring VS The Ring (japanese movie)
One Missed Call VS One Missed Call (not sure about movie, but i know there is a japanese drama series on this)
The Eye VS The Eye( Chinese movie but based on thailand story)

what else now?

Answers: The Grudge VS Ju-On (japanese movie)

The Eye VS The Eye( Chinese movie but based on thailand story)

Because the majority of American movie goers are too lazy to read subtitles (which I can't figure out b/c refusing just makes a person look too dumb to read). Also, this way they can rake in the cash putting a big name star into a movie w/out having to put any effort into thinking up a good story. Thus putting Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge and Jessica Alba in The Eye.

Why don't people realize how stupid they seem when they refuse to read subtitles? I just don't get it. Do they just not care that they appear dumb and lazy? The remakes aren't ever as good, either.

Sorry. Passionate subject for me. Done ranting now.

Because Japanese horror movies present new and refreshing horror movie formats. Besides, they really are creepy.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's more fun to watch white people that it is to watch asians. White movie goers are a little afraid of asians because they're so good at math.

Probably because they're good movies but most Americans won't bother watching subtitled movies so they remake them for an American audience. And of course...money is always the main motivator.

Because those are cheap to make - you don't need to hire Johnny Depp for $20 million right? They earn good money every time, so they will keep going back to that well.
Why don't they show the originals? Because Americans don't read subtitles!

they like cashing in on a good thing

Because apparently, creativity and orginality are dead in Hollywood.

Here's another one to add to your list: Shutter starring Joshua Jackson.

cos they have run out of ideas.
