Drive in movies....!?!

Question: Any of you ever get to go to a drive in movie where they sold hot dogs and sodas and pop corn and gun drops....? When's the last time you went and what did you see? That is, if you were even watching the movie (57 Chevy crowd know's what I mean) :)

My then fiance, now my wife, and I went to one in Lexington Virginia a little over 2 years ago. Lexington is not a place that New Yorkers should go. It confirmed every southern stereotype that I thought wasn't really true. There were some people there making fun of a mexican kid for being arab. The people were ignorant and the movie was bad (the fantastic 4 and the remake of the bad news bears), and we still loved the experience. It was the classic kind, community run with all the concessions and a small drive in screen on a hill.
There's something special and so very American about a drive in theater. If we happen to find ourselves driving south past that area, we'll make a point to go out of our way to go back. There's not many drive ins left in this country. I'm glad I got to experience it.

There is a drive-in in my hometown that recently shut down. Shame too, it did really good business, but the owners just didn't want to do it anymore. The last movie I saw there was the first Jurassic Park. What a memorable movie!

There's still a drive-in in my home town and we go every summer...I think last summer I saw Live Free or Die Hard...

Saw Transformers at the drive-in last fall. Actually we went just about every week last fall. You can still find drive-ins in some parts of the country. Ours not only has a full menu at the concession stand they "advertise" it with the old musical ads from the fifties and sixties. They also have live bands every saturday night that play until dusk. Now I can't wait for them to open up for the season this year!!

We have a multiple screen drive in.. they sell everything.. and the last time I went.. hmm.. I think we watched the Da vinci code and some damn kids movie.. .. wow.. that was a long time ago now.. (it was the same day I got my first tattoo.. )

THERE IS ONE IN MEMPHIS TN THAT STILL PLAYS I LOVE TO GO THERE

There is still one in operation in Hyde Park, New York called The Hyde Park Drive-in, and another one near by owned by the same people called Overlook Drive-in. I think I last saw Transformers there.

Drive-ins are freaking awesome, and should definitely come back into more use. We always go with food, like Chinese or pizza, and have a picnic before the movie, playing frisbee and stuff like that. Then we sit down in lawn chairs in front of our cars to watch the movie. What's really awesome is that they show two movies together, so you basically get two shows for the price of one.

We saw Spiderman 3 and Shrek the third! I love going to the drive in!!
