I agree with the above answer about Flash Gordon being a terrible superhero, one only has to watch the 2007 TV series to see this...
BUT, Flash Gordon (1980) was and still is one of my favorite films ever. It reeks of pure 80's brilliance, the music is amazing, and the special effects are hilarious. It is a true modern day opera.

Dispatch war-rocket Ajax to bring back his body!

flash gordon was the worst superhero ever created.

Brian Blessed, Queen and American football players lol. Add in theactrical scenes that stepped out of a west-end musical from the 80's and Ming the Merciless!

It's both fabulous and terrible but sometimes that can be cool...

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!

Enough said!

absolute genius - its cheese at its finest.

The perfect sunday afternoon film as it requires no thought or effort to watch - and mings daughter is a babe!

I always laugh at the thought of Brian Blessed's hairy legs.

But the Queen soundtrack is fantastic!

my husband would say absolute genius.

Neither.

Its somewhere in-between the two. A bubblegum story with good visuals and a sense of fun.

Gordon's alive! - best film line ever

Plus
Brian Blessed
Timothy Dalton
Richard O'Brian
Peter Duncan

I defy anyone to watch it without smiling at Vultan's (Brian Blessed) antics as he boards War Rocket Ajax and runs riot.

Classic!

I hate the film but my boyf and all his mates love it xx

Its good fun with great music in the background,I went to see it at the cinema when I was a kid,and when its on TV it brings back nice memory's of that time.

It's great. Don't forget some of the cheesiest dialogue in movie history.

"Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!"

And Peter Duncan from Blue Peter gets bitten by a squishy tree thing... Fantastic.

When it first came out when I was young I loved it. The older I got the lamer the movie became. The soundtrack is awesome though...

Campy, Cheesy, Wonderfully tongue in cheek..................

.....................and yes, a work of genius!

ABSOLUTE GENIUS so cheesy but fantastic "flash flash i love you but we only have 7 Min's to save the earth" classic. and i never thought of it before but yes it does resemble the wizard of oz and i love that film to. flash by queen was one of the first singles i bought that and Chas n Dave's rabbit song lol
