Question: i personally loved it, it's one of my favorite movies.
but i was dissapointed with the end because she choose to be an author, and not to be with her true love which was sad.

I thought it was a very good movie, very unforgettable.
It wouldn't have been a true true biography if Jane had married her true love, but that doesn't stop me from wishing it had turned out differently :)

Never saw it! ;p

never heard of it.

The romantic drama Becoming Jane offers a speculative take on the early years and love life of British author Jane Austen (played in the film by American actress Anne Hathaway). Although historical facts suggest it was probably nothing more than a friendship or an infatuation, the Julian Jarrold-directed movie proposes that Austen fell in love with roguish Irish attorney Tom Lefroy (James McAvoy) and that this relationship influenced Austen's subsequent novels.

The film establishes the 18th century world in which Austen grew up, one where a young woman -- especially one from a family of meager means -- was expected to marry well. But Jane is a fiercely independent soul who wishes to marry for love, just as her parents (Julie Walters and James Cromwell) did. She also hopes to one day become a novelist. Then she meets Lefroy, a ladies' man and ne'er-do-well who has been exiled to the country by his no-nonsense judge uncle (the late Ian Richardson).

After Jane is forced into seriously considering a marriage proposal from the nephew of a wealthy noblewoman (Maggie Smith), she and Tom finally profess their love for one another and embark on what they hope will be a long and happy life together. Things don't go that smoothly for them, however.
