Documentaries are so personal because they have so many areas of focus. "When We Were Kings" is excellent though it is about boxing. There's a very spiritual element to it.

Roam or Step into Liquid

When the Levees Broke (a requiem in 4 parts)

Without a doubt, An Inconvenient Truth which talks about Global Warming, the severity of climate crisis throughout the world.. I think it matters more than any other one. I also think March of the Penguins is another great documentary. The things they have to endure just to survive. I'ts amazing and extraordinary their way of life.

I really enjoyed Morgan Spurlock's Supersize Me. He's a bit like Michael Moore only less intense and a little less pushy.

The Fog of War

or, if you want something more upbeat:
Buena Vista Social Club

Bowling for Columbine - shows how stupid the American fascination with guns is.

The Devil and Daniel Johnston

here's a recommendation, though i'm not necessarily making the case for best documentary ever. it's a picture i saw in theaters called "my kid could paint that" and it's absolutely fascinating. as the title suggests, it's about a child prodigy whose paintings become known and start selling for thousands of dollars. but that only hints at what happens in it. it's a complex film that asks a lot of questions about the nature and value of art and then goes in a direction that you'll be really surprised by if you are unfamiliar with the story beforehand. it should be available on dvd by now, as i saw it in theaters early last year. definitely worth seeing.

The Bible..

...'around the Universe in billions of years'....

With an excellent ending; Revelation 22,....Praise Jehovah!!

Thank you Jesus!!

Salvation we owe to the One seated on the throne and to the Lamb.
