Why are some movies so unforgettable?!

Question: Some movies are unforgettable because of what they represent. Take for example Titanic, a movie that represented, tragedy, love, lust and most important survival of live. It represented a true event that happen almost a century ago. It was a movie that made you laugh, cry and feel sorrow for those who perish. There are many movies that endure the test of time. Some of my favorites are, Schindler's List( about a German business man, Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of over a thousand Polish Jews during the Holocaust), Singin' in the Rain'(one of the best musical films),
Casablanca(Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman), Gone With the Wind(Clark Gables and Vivien Leigh) and Citizen Kane(Orson Welles). Take the time to watch these great films and you'll know why they are Unforgettable Films!

the HYPE
the BIG LINE in theathres

the movie itself
the FANS

Annoying people talking through it

because they are good

If you think for a moment of your top 5 movies of all time...and take a closer look...you will see that there is a pattern...and underlying theme. According to Julia Cameron in her book "The Vein of Gold" these themes 'tap our vein'. There is a universal truth that lies at the core of these movies that allow many people from different walks of life to feel connected to...but more important...allow you to connect with on a deeper level. For you...that particular movie takes on a rich deeper meaning that lasts outside the finite moments of the film...and in some cases even changes our lives forever.
For example here's some of my top ten....
Epsilon aka Alien Visitor (1997)
Waking the Dead (2000)
Comrades, Almost a Love Story (1996)
Fall (1997)
Lost Horizon (1937)
Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)
Final (2001)
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
They are all very unconventional love stories...none of them have 'happy endings'...but all of them have powerful endings. They are all about how love comes to us when we least expect it...how are lives are transformed by that love...and what happens to us when there is the possibility of losing it.
None of these can I watch without stuff moving in my chest...my face is usually wet during the movie and afterwards...and I find it difficult to watch anything afterwards...that night...or even for the rest of the week. These movies resonate inside me...vibrate at a level so deep...they communicate a meaning that seems to go right to my soul,
Each one of these movies has more than just a few moments in them that are truly unforgettable...and for some reason everything seems to come together...the acting, the writing, the camera work...to make up something more akin to a mystical experience rather than just a bunch of actors on a flick....and that experience always lasts long after the closing credits have come and gone.
What are your unforgettable movies? Do you see a theme running through your top movies?
Hope this helps.
