Don't you agree that most remakes today sucks?!

Question: Sure most remakes suck as some producer is lacking an original idea and would rather capitalize on some previous material (success?).

There are a few exceptions and some classic novels have been and will continue to be remade, as well as foreign film adaptations.

Dawn of the Dead (great first film and great remake)
Oceans 11 (much better than the first version)
The Thomas Crown Affair (even though the first had a stellar cast, it's so dated and cliched)
Salem's Lot
The Departed (Infernal Affairs)
No Reservations ( certainly not a great film, but I think a little better than Mostly Martha, the German version)
Tombstone (Wyatt Earp and My Darling Clementine)
etc.

The worst recent remakes:
Psycho (are you kidding me?!!?)
House of Wax
Godzilla
Rollerball
Planet of the Apes
Swept Away
City of Angels

depends on the movie

I am not looking forward to the Nightmare On Elm Street remake only because for the first time ever Robert Enlund wont be wearing the glove this time.

TRON remake and sequel are needed. Its been in the talks for 10+ years. the guy who created tron had storyboards for it in a interview on the 20th anniversary dvd of the original. they made a video game sequel. I would give anything to see a remake of it just to see what they could do today with it.

yeah i mean people should juat let a classic rest in peace.

Not all remakes suck. Oceans 11 rocked and so did Halloween (but I love R.Z as a director)...however, the fact they are remaking:
April Fools Day, Prom Night, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and the list goes on...its horrible. Its different if they actually try to make it better, but they aren't.
Its sad, but hopefully some will be somewhat decent!

classics are classics but even though i haven't seen the original Dawn of the Dead-I have heard it is close to the remake and I love it!-also liked the remake of Amityville&Halloween-guess it's all in the movie maybe-I agree about nightmare on elm street-not gonna b right w/out Robert Englund :O(

No.
