So why didn't Harry get punished for using the unforgivable curse?!
Question: he didn't get punished because Bellatrix is a cold blooded killer she wouldn't hesitate using an unforgivable curse on him at the ministry as a matter of fact she did or she came really close to it and the ministry was too busy and too shocked with Voldemorts return to care about him using underaged magic
They kinda owned him because he was telling the truth about Voldemort they just wanted to cover it up anyways Dumbledore always has harrys back. He probably would've just said it was self defense.
Bella deserves it she killed alot of people in the last book

WTF? Harry used the curse? I don't remember this, last time I read the final book was in the summer.

Because everyone else at the time was busy fighting off OTHER death eaters or not there, thus no one knows he used the curse other than Bellatrix herself. Who obviously know one is going to listen to if she actually tried to press charges.
My guess is that the wizarding world would have been really angry if the ministry had put Harry Potter in jail. He just turned out to be telling the truth after all.
After what the ministry had done to him, too, he needed a break.
Deus ex Machina
The whole point of the books is that Harry was special. It would have been pretty boring if he got locked up for the rest of his life after that incident.
Its pretty understandable why Snape and co didnt really like Harry. He did break almost all rules yet he got away with it (and even rewarded for it in some cases) yet if anyone else would have tried that they would have been expelled or imprisioned.

Its just like how if someone tries to kill you, you can hurt them in "self-defence" w/o getting caught by the law.

Why the hell anyone would punish him if he had not done anything wrong? It would be wrong if he had used against innnocent people ! HE SHOULD HAVE USED AVADA KEDAVRA INSTEAD!
