Trainspotting. Also, there is a movie about Crystal Meth addicts, too. It has Jason Schwartzman (if it isn't Jason, it's his brother who's name slips my mind) and Britney Murphy. These are intense movies.
Less Than Zero (1987) a realistic look at what drugs can do to a person.....starring Robert Downey Jr, Jamie Gertz, James Spader, and Andrew McCarthy. A great movie, but kind of sad......it has a great soundtrack here is where you can get the list of songs

If you really liked "The basketball diaries", then you'll definately love "Rebound". A dramatization of the life of Earl "The Goat" Manigualt. It's a basketball movie about a young man who could've been one of the greatest basketball players of all time if it were'nt for heroin. Don Cheadle from Crash, and Hotel Rwanda, plays The Goat.
