Does anyone understand "The Fountain" movie?!
Question: Yeah - All the stuff in the past about the conquistador is the story his wife is writing "The Fountain". This story is based on her research of the Mayan culture and legend of the "Tree of Life". Hugh Jackman in present time is a brilliant scientist who is doing tests on a monkey to rid it of it's brain tumor so he can help his wife who is dying from one. In his tests he not only ends up curing the monkeys brain tumor but also preserves its life by regenerating it's brain and abilty to heal. When his wife eventually dies from a seizure caused from the brain tumor he plants a tree seed on her grave just like the Mayan legend she was telling in her story (and wants him to finish). He then proceeds to use his research on himself to prolong his life into the very distant future because according to the Mayan legend if he can get the "tree of life" (the tree he planted on her grave) to this specific nebula (star) that she will be reborn. However just like in the present time when he was too late to save his wife he was also too late in the future as well because the tree died right before he made it to the nebula and in the end he killed himself by allowing himself to be absorbed into the star. Ultimately finishing her story "The Fountain".

not me. it was horrrrrible.
yea. it was a bunch of different religious ideas but into movie form. other than that it wasn't the greatest. me and some friends had like a two hour movie discussion on it and decided it was okay.

No, not me. The pacing was very erratic and just when I thought I understood it, they'd show another Buddhist Hugh Jackman scene.
I think I actually did kind of get it, but it was awful. My god, what a waste of 2 hours.

But then again i love Aronofskys work (Pi & Requiem For A Dream).
I thought it looked great, mixed with its dark overtones about life and death. I thought Weisz & Jackman gave the best performances of their careers.
yeah kinda, it's about accepting death and learning how to grieve, because the woman in the movie completely accepts her death and doesnt fight it while the guy spends all his time looking for a cure when he could've been spending time with the one he loved before she died because no one lives forever
Floating about in a bubble in the heavens with nothing
to eat but the bark of a tree, that was hairy,was weird.
Iv see seen some odd and weird films but this one
still perplexes me.Just a waste of me watching,the wife
did a crossword so that says a lot,just a waste of space.
