I think it was more the husband's fault. He was the one who decided to move into the house after they started the divorce hearings. He also went out of his way to be a jerk to Kathleen Turner's character when he ruined the dinner that she was hosting to try to get into catering.
I haven't seen that film for a long time but I really like it - definitely a little bit of a change from the characters they played in 'Romancing The Stone'.
They were both to blame.
They just both had to have it all and they ended up losing everything.....even their lives.
I might say Danny devito...he was the one who found the law saying they both can stay in the house. If he hadnt said that, they would have just had a normal nasty divorce, and hadnt tried to kill eachother to get the other to leave.
While Girl Geek has it mostly right, I would say that their biggest failing, leading to each directly contributing to the other's death, was their inability to control their animosity- their hatred for each other.
i love that movie. i think it was his fault. he should have just let her have the damn house
