Question: Movies enter the public domain only when the copyrights on the movie and those on the underlying base work have expired. If the creator renewed the copyright, it won't expire until 2022 -- and even then, you have to make sure the underlying base work's copyright hasn't expired as well. In short, the movie may not actually be in the public domain. Be careful if you're hunting for it online...

you may want to try watch-movies.net they have many movies new and old

I just saw it last month on TCM-TV, so I don't think it really is in the public domain. I'm sure you can buy a copy.
