If Limewire will download movies how to I get them to convert and burn to a DVD.!

Question: Will the Pro version do this? All it is saying is it will download faster. I already have the movies downloaded to the computer. I can't get them to burn to a DVD. Is there another program that will do this? The one that came with my DVD burner has already expired and will not let me pay and download the extended version. Anyone have any programs that will do this? I will pay to download them if thats what I have to do. I just want to get the movies on to DVD.

DO NOT GO NEAR LIMEWIRE PRO !!!! I cannot say this loud enough. It does two things ... yes, lets you download some things faster but it puts you on a "watch list". If your system is running Windows Vista ... well you shouldn't go near ANY p2p site because Gates finally gave in to the movie and music industries and put tracking software in with the op code. No, I'm not paranoid; the facts back this up even as Gates and his boys deny it all over the place. Two facts can not be ignored with this ... 1.) Since the release of Vista arrests for "illegal downloading" have increased over 250% ... quite an "eye popping" stat don't you think ... 2.) I have had the chance to run Vista machines and aside from all the "pretty" new bells and whistles (that are more time consuming and aggravating that useful) it pales next to Windows XP. Anyways, if there is nothing "new" going on then why does Vista need so much power to run ????? The truth is that it doesn't ... it needs that extra power to monitor what you are doing with your computer ... ever hear of "Big Brother" ... he is watching. Anyways, enough bi**hing about Microsoft ... lol ... back to your question.

The first thing I would do is to uninstall LimeWire and get rid of any traces that it was on your system that includes going into the "Program Files" section and deleting the empty folder that is left behind by LimeWire. Then go to CNET (download.com) and download "FrostWire". FrostWire is the same thing as LimeWire PRO but doesn't have all the other "junk" in with it that they are using to track people down with. It looks the same, well the background colors are blue instead of green but that's minor, runs the same and gives even better results than LimeWire PRO. Basically the same program but without the "bad" stuff.

I have downloaded many files off from there and you can never really tell what format they are in until you try to watch them after they are downloaded. What you need is a universal converter program. One of the best that I have found is called VIDEOzilla. It can be found at CNET and unlike some of the other programs they offer there this one gives you the "real" version of the program not a "trial" version that only does things half way. If I remember right VIDEOzilla gives you 20 free conversions to find out if you like the program. After that you have to buy a "Product Key" for it before it will run again. It's been a while but I think it was around $50. It is money well spent because I have yet to find any kind of video file that this program will not convert into a DVD burnable format. It even converts Quicktime and RealPlayer formats. I could probably ramble on for a long time about how good this program is but the best way to know if you like a program is still the same ... get it and run it ... if you don't like it find something else.

Another problem with some vids that you download is that they need to be edited in some way or another. I have found a program that, like the other I suggested, works better than anything I have ever tried. This program is called VideoReDo. It is without a doubt the best video editing program that I have ever used and I've tried a lot of them. You can find this one at CNET also and like the other one this is a "real" version of the program that, IIRC, also gives you 20 free conversions to find out if you like it. Again, this one is about $50 but it is money well spent.

All that being said be patient with yourself when doing this. Burning DVDs is not as simple as just putting a blank in and burning it. The first DVD that I ever burned was Ice Age and it took 19 hours to burn to disk ... yeah, 19 hours ... and then it wouldn't even play in a DVD player. It took so long because I knew close to nothing about converting video or what formats burn the best ... it didn't play on a DVD player because the burner I had at the time was a +R burner and I was using -R disks ... should have seen that one coming but I didn't. In the end it comes down to trial and error but working your way through it will be rewarding when your DVD collection starts to get bigger and bigger ... lol ...

I now have two burners on my system ... one is the old +R burner I got first (still works so why get rid of it ... lol ... I use it mainly for data and disk coping), the other is a Multi-Write drive with Lightscribe. The Multi-Write drive allows me to burn to almost any type blank disk ... I would stay away from the re-write disks as they have many of the same problems that CD re-writes did and they also can't be "closed" so they will not play on any DVD player. Lightscribe is pretty cool but not really needed. It allows you to burn a black and white picture to the topside of the disk to make your work look more "professional". One thing I cannot stress enough is not to us "cheap" blanks ... the old saying you get what you pay for has never been truer than on this subject. Personally I'm a hp man myself and I tend to stick with their products ... hp, Sony, & Imation blanks are the best that I've found. Store brands, IE: Staples, Office Depot, generally suck but you may have more luck than I have with other brands.

Almost forgot to say this ... the best format to burn to DVD, in my experience anyways, is Mpeg 2 ... it is the format that most DVDs are burned.

In the end ... take your time and know that you WILL make mistakes BUT ... you will learn from them and in no time you will be making great looking DVDs for yourself.

Another thing I almost forgot ... I use Ulead DVD Factory as my burn program. It works very good and won't let you mess things up to bad without telling you that you are ... lol ... I will say that there are better ones out there but I haven't felt the need to try any of them out yet.

Anyways I hope some of my ramble here helps ... if you have other questions feel free to drop me a line.

May The Force Be With You.

EDIT: I wouldn't go anywhere near iTunes for any of this. I don't know if the other person who has an answer here quite understands the question ... Of course I may be nuts too so who knows ... lol ...

its a free converter program, however it expires after a few months or something, very easy to use though just right click the file in the folder and it gives u the option to convert the video format. For burning add it to itunes (download it if you don't have it http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/), then choose burn to CD, you can also do this with windows media player, you must add it to your library first though.
