Can you identify this movie with ghost children and a boy who was drowned?!
Question: In 2003 or thereabouts, I saw a movie on TV one night. I missed most of it, and this is all that I remember:
-A period piece...mid-20th century?
-I think this was a foreign movie, but not French, if my memory serves correctly.
-Set in a haunted boarding school or orphanage, something like that. Ghost kids in closets??
-A woman who may have had a love interest in a brutal, cruel man, who I think drowned a little boy in a pool or something in the basement.
-For some reason this man terrorising the kids ends up in the basement with a bunch of kids.
-The boy's ghost kills the man by holding him underwater (similar to What Lies Beneath).
-Military people arrive at the end?? (Not sure)
-Everyone leaves?? (Not sure)

yeah...i agree with the other answer, i think it's the devil's backbone...but the kid supposedly died from something else and was thrown into a pool of water or something...the kid's ghost is haunting the whole orphanage. then a bomb hits it and many of them die. at the end, the guy who is responsible for the kid's death gets killed by the ghost because he slipped into the pool where the ghost dwelled...i dont really know if this is the movie you are talking about but i hope it helped.
