SHREK is grumpy, smelly and ugly ogre, living peacefully in a swamp. One night, he suddenly finds his land has been squatted by a mass of fairy-tale creatures (Pinocchio, the three little pigs, Peter Pan, Snow White, Cinderella, among others), who have been banished by the evil LORD FARQUAAD. One of these is DONKEY (who just won't shut up). Accompanied by him, Shrek confronts Lord Farquaad, demanding his land back. Farquaad does him a deal, telling him to rescue PRINCESS FIONA from a dragon-guarded castle, to get his swamp back.
Shrek and Donkey go and rescue the Princess, narrowly avoiding being burned by the DRAGON, who tries to seduce Donkey (being a girl Dragon!). Fiona is disgruntled about being rescued by an ugly ogre, rather than Prince Charming. However, despite their differences, she and Shrek grow fond of each other.
On the second night of their return journey, Fiona hides in a windmill. Donkey finds her, and discovers that she's turned into an ogress. She explains that she's under a spell, which can only be broken by true love's first kiss. Shrek overhears part of this, but misunderstands and thinks she doesn't love him because he's ugly.
Just as she decides to tell Shrek the truth, the sun rises and she becomes a beautiful princess again. Lord Farquaad arrives and takes Fiona to his castle, and Shrek returns to his swamp. Both are miserable.
Later, Shrek, Donkey and Dragon head to Farquaad's castle, to try to stop Fiona marrying him. When they arrive, the sun sets and Fiona becomes an ogress again. Farquaad doesn't want to marry her, and sets the guards on everybody, but Dragon comes to the rescue and eats Farquaad up. Shrek and Fiona kiss. Therefore, Fiona stays ugly (in conformity with the spell: "you find true love's first kiss and then take love's true form"), and marries Shrek, and they live "ugly" ever after
The story begins with Shrek peaceably enjoying life within his home: a swamp. This is shattered when he inadvertently rescues the stubborn and talkative Donkey (voice of Eddie Murphy) from soldiers sent by ruthless ruler of the Kingdom of Duloc, Lord Farquaad (voice of John Lithgow). Farquaad is obsessed with ruling a "perfect kingdom", without any fairy tale creatures in it, and uses the Magic Mirror to select a princess bride he can marry in order to become a king. He chooses Princess Fiona (voice of Cameron Diaz), who is held captive in a castle surrounded by lava and guarded by a fire-breathing dragon.
Much to Shrek's chagrin, Lord Farquaad has relocated all the fairy tale creatures to his swamp. Shrek and Donkey head off to the Kingdom of Duloc so they can complain to Farquaad and Shrek can get his swamp back. When Shrek and Donkey get to the Kingdom, they interrupt a tournament Farquaad is holding in order to select a knight worthy of rescuing Princess Fiona. Lord Farquaad then sends the knights to kill Shrek. Shrek fights the knights, with some help from Donkey, and defeats them. Lord Farquaad, getting an idea, proclaims Shrek the winner of the tournament and agrees to remove the fairy tale creatures from the swamp if Shrek rescues Fiona.

Shrek, the big green Ogre, eats the prince, the new King is angry, can't kill Shrek, so he eats the Gingerbread Man, then Snow White slaps the crap out of him. So Shrek is sent on a quest to kill a dragon....the dragon eats Shrek and turns into a princess...They all live happily never after.

An ogre named Shrek's swamp gets taking by Lord farqward (sp.), and he goes to protest this when he meets a talking donkey, named donkey, who is just god awfully boreing. Lord whateverhisname is tells sherk to free a princess from a tower for him so the two go on a long mission and save the Princess Fiona from her long imprsionment in the castle. They rescue her and bring her to the outskirts of Lord Farqwards (Sp) kingdom, and one night shrek plans to tell her that he loves her, but misshears donkey and fiona talking, she told donkey she was an ogre and says who could ever love something so hideous and shrek thinks its about him, so shrek gets his swamp back, and doesnt talk to fiona, he later finds out he loves fiona and then runs and objects their wedding (at the wrong time, of course :X) and Lord Farqward has them arrested, but the dragon that guarded fionas castle (and who fell in love with donkey) comes and eats him, and well they live happily ever after.
