Question: the other alien burst out of the dog a lot quicker, despite the fact that its gestation period was a lot shorter. ripley was impregnated before the dog, yet still it does not burst out for a long time after the dog has died

As well as the comments relating to the difference between dog & human physiology, there's also the fact that Ripley was carrying an Alien Queen embryo, which would probably add to the gestation time.

just to keep the excitement in the film until it reaches the end

well there wouldnt have been a movie without the main charactor now would there?

2 make the film a lil bit more longer and earn more money
croooooooooooooooooooks

According to the book, the alien gestated in the dog much quicker due to its metabolism and size. Originally, the face hugger was supposed to gestate inside of a cow that was slaughtered for food. You can see this version on the DVD that FOX put out with many scenes restored, deleted or rearranged for a "Directors Cut"

WOW I DON'T KNOW MAYBE THERE IS AN ALIEN DOC OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP. ARE THERE ANY GOOD ALIEN PREGNANCIES BOOKS?

Because in the land of movies drama over-rules logic every time!

i think it has something to do with the fact that Ripley has the alien blood in her as she was not the original Ripley but was cloned

ups my bad wrong film

Yes, Gary K is right. I would think carrying the alien queen would length gestation.

xx

I dont know, Thanks for bringing it up though...I thought 2&3 were the best anyway.
