I've admired Alfred Hitchcock throughout my life. After all, his TV series brought him into our living rooms so that we were well-acquainted with his wry and often quirky sense of humor. When I think of it now, I realize how mind-boggling it was that he hosted "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", especially doing the frequently silly things he did to introduce or wrap up stories!
A new "Hitch" film was always an exciting event to the public because we never knew what to expect from him~except that it would be wonderfully entertaining and filled with touches by this undeniably brilliant director. Actually, I've never encountered anyone who isn't a fan; when his films are mentioned, we all seem to be ready to talk about our favorites. When I was a senior in high school, one TV station ran "Psycho" seven nights in a row. As I recall, everyone who had cable (though this was before HBO) watched it every time! It was sort of a badge of honor.
I wouldn't be surprised if practically everyone has at least one favorite Hitchcock film. I couldn't possibly pick just one.
By the way: If you want a fascinating reading, try these:
A book of interviews of Alfred Hitchcock, in which he was one of the first to show how Hitch was a real author: first published 1966 "Le cinema selon Hitchcock" ("The Cinema According to Hitchcock").
"Hitchcock/Truffaut: The Definitive Study of Alfred Hitchcock by Fran?ois Truffaut" (Revised Edition); 1983 (French original version); 1984 (English translation); 1985 Touchstone Edition, published by Simon & Shuster, New York, 368 pages, ISBN 0671604295.
The latter is a favorite of mine. BTW: The above information is from Truffaut's site at IMDB.
IN real life, not on. It's a typo... Report It
