What was with the abrupt ending of "No Country for Old Men"? Read deta!

Question: Well, I can't really call it an ending since it really didn't have an end to the story. I was enjoying the movie so much and then suddenly it was like they didn't finish it. Or am I missing something? Did anyone here feel the same way?

I was quite happy with the ending, because that's the way life is. Sometimes the bad guy gets away, sometimes people are just psychotic, and life just goes on. The opening speech by Tommy Lee Jones and the ending speech are the frame around the whole movie. The Sherrif can't relate to the increase in senseless violence he's been seeing in his job, the falling away of humanity that existed when he was younger. The dream he recounts at the end is his yearning for a simpler time, the time of his father's generation when people were decent to each other. But then he wakes up.

I agree with you it made me not like the entire movie because of it
