What is it about movies like Saw or Hostel....?!
Question: What is it about movies like Saw or Hostel that guys really like? I mean, now there is a Saw 4 and my husband is so thrilled.....why do you guys like them so much??

From what I've seen its not just guys, its a majority of both sexes.
Personally I don't like the movies like that.
But if I had to guess, the draw for it comes from the fact that these people want to see how much they can take. To see how much they can watch and not get sick or scared; to prove they are strong enough and in control enough to handle watching the movie.
He is excited because he has shown to himself (and he believes everyone else) that he can handle it by having gone through the first three (and the Hostel movies, I think there were 2). He's confident that regardless of what they come up with in the fourth one, he can handle seeing it and not get sick.
In his mind he has proven he is a man that can handle these things when not everyone can. I suspect he thinks, at least subconsciously, that he is impressing you with his ability to handle this as well. Basically he is proving he is a man to you that can handle anything.
its because its just SOOOOO gory and its thrilling. like its crazy, especially to guys cuz they have more of a tolerence for it, to see something so gory and exciting right in front of you. and its just rare to see things that go soo far and a lot of guys like gore, so for them this is like a festival or something lol :p
I'm female but I too was very excited when Saw 4 came out. I do like Hostel but I prefer Saw. I enjoy all those kind of macabre films. ;-)
those movies are so stupid, anyone can make a movie based on gore.

Well I would have to say that Saw and Hostel are two totally different types of movies...Yeah many people relate them to each other due to the gore and blood that they produce...however they are different.
I my self prefer the Saw movies over Hostel. The reason....It is like a giant puzzle...you don't have the full picture until the end. Many people love the saw movie not because of the blood and gore, but the suspense and the question of what will happen next.
As for Hostel...well that is for the extremist who wants to see how much they can handle. A movie will little to no story line, but a lot of torture.
See as you can see they are two different types of movies and would get the attention that they do. If your husband is like me, then he is probably excited due to the fact that there is more to the storyline of Saw.

but after Saw 2 It kind of seemed unnecessary for a third and fourth one their endings weren't as good at all
Hostel was okay.
But I was expecting it to be a lot better and really nasty and it wasn't.
It seemed like a ripoff of Euro Trip
cept made into a horror movie.
