If you are seriously 23, forget your parents! Watch whatever movies you want! Technically, you aren't their charge anymore. If you're saying that to be funny, well then, show your parents your responsible enough to handle other movies. Most R-rated movies are that for sexual content/cursing. Prove to your parents why you want to watch those sorts of movies, convince them that you're going out with friends who are also responsible enough to understand the jokes and things. wow i can watch r and my parents are ok with it and im only 13 but my friends parents are like that but for pg13 or older. just don ttell them or tell them to suck it up

if that doesn't work just buy a tv and dvd player (or portable dvd player) bye any movies you want and don't get caught
You need to be out on your own. However, if you're living in their house with free room and board and they're paying your bills, then you need to follow their rules.
Get a life. If your parents raised you that stricktly you need to break away. At 23 you are fully ready to take on the challenges that life will give you.

my parents are very protective too. (im 16) they let me and my friends go see R rated movies in the theaters, cause you just need an adult to say you can go in they dont need to be with you.
