the father made something called the ghost. he dies and the military take the wife overseas to get information in safety deposit box and diesel is a navy seal left with the kids for protection
because some people were trying to break into the house and the mom got worried so there he is.
He was watching the kids because their father died and their mom said that the dad said that their was a ghost in the house.He was looking for the Ghost and protecting the kids.The mom left because she was trying to.....well I forgot why the mom left.
the mom went somewhere and they needed some help in the protection field.....so ya!

It started out as a favor to his Commanding Officer, since he (Vin Diesel) had some leave time. Once he got to the house, it soon turned into more that just baby-sitting.
Because it was a assignment from the Navy and the mother had to go collect something from a saftey deposit box that her husband had left and he had to protect the ghost program.
