That is where Connery's character had hidden the stolen microfilm that had info on the JFK assassination, UFO landing, etc.

Edit: The contents were revealed, right before the went in to interrogate Mason for the first, Director Womack was telling Agent Paxton about the "dirty secrets" mason had stolen. That's why as the drive away, Cage's character asks his wife if she wants to know who killed JFK as he looks at the microfilm.

It is a roll of film from Sean Connery's character, Mason. He explained earlier in the movie to Goodspeed that he hid what "they" were after him for in a small church..."front pew, right leg". It is just a gimic for the movie. The contents are never revealed, just something for the audience to speculate about.

Sean Connery's character was arrested years a go (among other things) for knowing way too many government secrets. These were all on a micro film which he hid. The 'front pew right leg' is just where he hid it. So he told him the name of the church and then the pees are the rows of seats in a church and right leg is just the leg of that seat which was holloow and that's why you see the vicar chase him out of the church while he's holding a peice of wood (the right leg)

it was a roll of film of who relly killed JFK

something he stole from the church
