Anyone know what the name of this movie is? "The Blue _____"...the bla!

Question: A couple nights ago I saw this movie on TV. It's an older movie, in black and white, and the title is "The Blue _____". Of course, I can't think of what fills in the blank, and all I remember is that it is a type of flower. Here is what I remember of the plot. A woman goes to a restaurant, that has the same name as the movie "The Blue _____", and goes home with a man. The guy tries to put moves on her, but she resists. This being the case, he decides to slip something in her drink that makes her pass out. When the woman wakes up, she leaves the house, but leaves her flower, which fell off her dress, and her shoes behind. The man ends up dead, and everyone believes "The Blue _____ Woman" is the murderer. Anyway, it turns out he was killed by a jealous lover, when she walked in and saw the other woman's handkerchief. That's about all I can remember about it. Don't know any of the actors, and I think it was set in the 30s. Anyone know the name of the movie?

Thx for any help!

The only other black and white movie (that I can think of) with the title The Blue something that's a flower, is "The Blue Gardenia" (1953). Try looking up the LONGER synopsis on IMDb. But it reads as if this is the movie you're thinking of--I hope!
This is a short synopsis:
"Nora (Anne Baxter) is a pretty telephone operator engaged to a soldier overseas. On her birthday, she gets a Dear John letter from him. Feeling despondent, she agrees to a date with a wolf from her office (Raymond Burr). He gets her drunk and leads her back to his apartment, where she resists his advances and bludgeons him in self-defense. She flees leaving behind the blue gardenia he bought her. The next morning, she's can't remember the details of what happened."
Here's another:
"In Los Angeles, on the day of her birthday, the telephone operator Norah Larkin decides to celebrate dining alone at home, with the picture of his beloved fiancé, a soldier overseas, and reading his last letter for her. In the letter he tells that he met a Japanese nurse and he wanted to get married with her. Norah, completely upset, accepts to blind date the Don Juan and photographer of calendar girls Harry Prebble. They go to the Blue Gardenia Club, and Norah drinks six strong cocktails Polynesian Pearl Divers and gets completely drunk. Harry takes her to his apartment and tries to force Norah to have sex, and she uses a poker to hit Harry on the head. On the next morning, she wakes-up in her apartment with her two roommates, but she can not remember what happened. When she reads the newspaper, she finds that Harry is dead and the police has her handkerchief, her high heels and her blue gardenia and is chasing the woman that killed the famous wolf Harry. When she reads in the newspaper that the journalist Casey Mayo (Richard Conte) is offering his support, exchanging per an exclusive interview, Norah decides to call him."
Main cast consists of:
Anne Baxter - Norah Larkin
Richard Conte - Casey Mayo
Ann Sothern - Crystal Carpenter
Raymond Burr - Harry Prebble
George Reeves - Police Capt. Sam Haynes
Nat King Cole - Himself
