Before that Robert Neville told his video log that the infected no longer displayed any sign of human interation or behaviour. Apparently he was wrong since they appear to be much more intellegent. They probably copied what he did to them and put fred there to lure him.

No it was not the Cancer Vampires that moved Fred cause there are no Cancer Vampires in the movie. They are called Dark Seekers. They are sorta a cross between Vampires and Zombies.. It was the Lead Dark Seeker that Moved Fred cause he wanted Robert Neville. If you remember when Dr, Neville went into the Dark Building after Sam and they found all of the Dark Seekers and they got out but Dr Neville wanted to capture on for his Cure Research so he went back well when he captured the Girl Dark Seeker then the Big Man exposed himself into the Light and Dr Neville Said that it was not like them to do that well he was pissed and he wanted revenge and also food.. But yes it was the Large Dark Seeker that moved fred to lore Dr Neville into a trap so that he could get him.
