1950's Movies being remade?!
Question: Am I the only one that has noticed alot of books and stories from the 1950s being remade, Like I am legend which recently came out, and The Day of the triffids, and Invasion of the bodysnatchers, and The blob, and Monster, all being remade into movies. Why is this? not complaining just wondering why.

New ideas are hard to come by. These movies could have used todays modern special effects. I would like them to re-do THEM!- the giant ants.
It's pratically a Hollywood rule that when a film dates, a remake is in the works.
Because it's easier to sell a proven commodity to backers than to actually develop something new.
To me, the worst is the old TV series that they are converting to movies.
Nothing is new under the sun... Every movie we have seen has derived from something else. No one is original anymore, but the new versions do rock. They rock hard!
Even back in the '50s, a lot of movies were remade- especially from th e silent film era.
