Do you think its Wrong to re-make movies classics?!

Question: Do you think its Wrong to re-make movie classics.

Like for Example i read somewhere they were talking about re-making the Godfather: Re making this movie would be a disaster this Movie it just its like it belongs in that time and you cant make it any better than it is without destroying the Movie.
i would rather they just made a Part 4.

an other movie they were thinking about re-makeing NIghtmare on elm street i think that would be ok but they were going too re-make it without robert englund playing freddy thats just Wrong.

and they were thinking about re-making childs play persnally i dont think that series is dead i think there's still more movies to come so why not make an other movie instead of re-makeing the first movie.

It really depends what movie they are thinking of remaking. You're right about The Godfather - no-one should touch that, it's a timeless classic that can't be improved in any way.
I didn't realise they were thinking about remaking Nightmare On Elm Street but it's weird cos I was just saying to a friend the other day that it would be good if they re-did that, although I have to agree....they would have to find the perfect replacement for Robert England for them to pull it off.
Another thing I was talking about the other day was Stephen King films, I think with the technology they have nowadays and the fact people are a bit more hardened to the whole horror genre they could remake his movies and make them a LOT scarier (I'm a horror movie fan!). eg. IT - that was a fab film but I wonder how great it would be if remade.
But the fact of the matter is that no matter what movie is being remade, it needs to be in the right hands. If done well, a good remake will be fantastic.

some aren't too bad, like the hills have eyes, but some just suck

I think movie re-makes are good if they are better than the original and bad if they are worse.

yes, most remakes are crap.

There are very few remakes that compare to the originals...I think they should be left alone.

well i think remaking the godfather would not be a good idea, alot of remakes are pretty bad too, like Planet of the Apes, but some are good, and alot of people would never have seen the originals, Oceans 11 is a remake, i would have never watched the original, 3:10 to yuma is another remake that i probably would have never seen either

I don't think it's "wrong" but it's definitely not appealing...

They are called classics for a reason and if it ain't broke then don't fix it. Movie writers have to be more creative and leave those great movies alone because they are still popular and worth watching and buying.

It takes the fun away from the original movie.

Childs play could not be made any better than it was, not that it was a good movie anyway, just not really dated.
Nightmare, I don't see the point in remaking them, nothing new to offer.
Godfather, can't be remade as there is no actor with enough talent around to replace Marlon Brando.
Its like Friday the 13th (out this year), how can they improve on them, we have seen every death scene available surely by now !
The worst ones are the remakes of the Asian movies, they are never the same, although The Ring was passable

I don't think it's wrong but I've yet to see a remake that is better than the original.

Well, I think you already got the answer there, but for me it is wrong and I wouldn't like to watch Godfather part 4.
I think it all depends on if you really have something new or really special to show.
Whether if it's wrong or not, i think it's more about if it's worth it or not.

As long as Rob Zombie remakes the movie I am good with it. His remake of Halloween was amazing. 10 times better than the origional.

I like some remakes. I prefer watching films that are more modern rather than the old style, where the picture isnt as good etc. The horror remakes like texas chainsaw massacre and hills have eyes are a couple of my favourite films. I don't think it's very fair on the original crew though who are usually forgotten and the ideas etc are creditted to the new directors.
Plus I heard Steven Spielberg is thinking about remaking Mary Poppins! I think some classics should be left alone but obviously people have different opinions about what is 'classic' and what isnt.

Im not really into remakes!! the ony remakes i like are freaky friday, hairspray and frankie and johnny!

I think it would be terrible to remake something as iconic and brilliant as Godfather (thats like someone wanting remake Scarface) I don't think they will remake Godfather, because they probally couldn't get any actors who'd wanna be in it! I havent seen nightmare on elm street so i dunno about that one! And i hope they don't remake childs play because i love that film!

It depends. Remaking classics like Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is okay, but it almost seems wrong to remake an epic like The Godfather. There will never be another Marlon Brando!
Remaking scary movies i think is pretty cool because the graphics will be so much better and hopefully so will the acting.

remakes almost always suck. but the departed was a remake and that was pretty good (but not a classic)

Yes because they rarely do them better
