In the film: Jaws...?!

Question: Quint states quite categorically in his monologue about his World War 2 mission that he never wear a life jacket, yet in one of the many adventurous scenes aboard the Orca, a bright Orange class 2 life preserver can be seen hanging on the hall in the bridge.

Is that Quint's life preserver from W.W. 2 or is Quint choosing to be a law abiding captain by obeying maritime laws requiring vessels to have life preservers stowed away on ship?

If many of those terms such as 'bridge' or 'maritime' don't mean anything to you, then you obviously are not a credible source of seamanship/ Jaws movie trivia and there for need not answer with a serious reply. Feel free however to reply in a random if not humorous and arbitrary way!

navy life jackets are not orange circa WWII.

Ergo..he is abdiding by coast guard regulations.

Quint was a law abiding captain and did not want to get dinged by the Coasties.

I believe he has the lifejackets on the boat for legal reasons because later in the film he passes them to Brody and the Richard Dreyfuss character.

Well Quint did not wear one on his WW2 'mission', as
stated, so that couldn't have been his from then.
I believe that as a serious seaman, he was abiding
the laws.
And yes, he did toss one out to Brody at the end - where Capt. Brody told Richard Dreyfuss's character, "Come on, I'll tow you in."

Maybe he put it there because he knew the cameras were joining him and he didn't wanna get taken up on it!
