As far as documentaries go, try "Capturing the Friedmans" and "Cocaine Cowboys"

One of my favorite lesser known horror flicks is "A Bothered Conscience," written and directed by Dennis Smithers, Jr.
Google it and see what you come up with.
Netflix has it for rent, or you can pretty much get it anywhere.
You can watch "The Bridge". It's a documentary about Golden Gate bridge suicides (including real jumps). I found it somewhat boring but interesting nonetheless.

The Wanderers 1978 its not sci-fi as far as scary movie maybe april fools from the 80's sci-fi try tron its kinda popular though or rawhead rex or boulavard nights or the thing

NOTE::: The movie title following "Nanking" is "W.e.t.b.a.c.k.". That wasn't meant as racial; it is the actual movie title, a movie about the plight of Central American illegal immigrants that cross thru Mexico into the US. Very compelling.
