Protagonist and Plot?!

Question: Oh dear...I have come up with 5 wonderful characters but no plot..I dont want any houses being blown up or crazy turning points...just a story about their struggle to survive...and how the protagonist touches their lives.

Can it be done without boring the hell out of the reader?

choose a theme that all characters can relate to in some way, i recommend magnolia for idea's.

Inter-twinned the characters into web of lies, deceit, and murder.

Just like those soap operas..
