The Descent. It's creepy, watchable and you can be rest assured you wont be visiting any caves soon!

You could try RINGU the original version of The Ring, or The Eye which again is a subtitled film or if you want a really good scare I would suggest either Shutter or Phone - again both foreign films. For english talking films I'd suggest The Blair Witch Project or any of the Saw films. But if you want to have a giggle at the same time try Frightnight...it's about Vampires...only just remember...there are such things!!!
'El Orfanato' [The Orphanage - Cert. 15] is a must !!! Should be already out at your local cinema this weekend. If you don't mind Spanish audio with English subtitles, then this is the one for you. It's a cross between 'The Sixth Sense' and... an ordinary orphanage... not! You'll be scared and crying by the end of the film - it's sort of an emotional rollercoaster at the same time, it got me. Happy viewing!
PS: Don't forget to take someone with u. Trust me - you'll need it...
Mothman Prophecies, it's a great movie and based off true events.
Also, I think The Poltergeist is more fun than scary.

The Sixth Sense or The Others. The Innocents and The Haunting (the older black and white version) are excellent..very few special effects and just really creepy atmospheres throughout.
