the new movie was more directly taken from the original book where willy is a little darker and more sadistic in his tendencies as opposed to the original (i still think that film sucks) where its more the "disneyfied" version where its all sweet and sappy. even the wizard of oz, the book, was a lot darker and violent then what the movie made out. thats probly why parents didnt like it. that and they're stupid, uninformed people who just take their kids to whatever movie is out there.
I dont know why specifically, but the way the film was different was that it was very psychodellic.

I saw both, and love both - for different reasons. Depp's "Wonka" was much "darker" and creepier than the original. The original was much more innocent.
Maybe it was because he looked too much like Michael Jackson.
That wasn't the right part for Johnny Depp, so it was just disturbing seeing him play it. He was creepy.
Don't get me wrong, I think Johnny Depp is an AMAZING actor, but he shouldn't have been the one to play Willy Wonka.

in did the new one is a bit more disturbing..... but that was the idea. but is not disturbing enough to make parents do it. besids anything we can say is yseless...i think u should watch the movie and then u hav ur opinion
