The Ruins, seeing it tonight with some friends, you should try it
poltergeist
Event Horizon (with Lawrence Fishburn) was pretty creepy
An absolutely terrifying movie (to me) is Halloween. The original Halloween is the most classic and terrifying movie. I can not promise you you will be scared but it is the creepiest shiver-up-your-spine movie. I get chills ever time the music comes on. It's a movie that stays with you, especially if you have baby sat on a creepy night. This movie is horror at it's best.
The last movie that really scared the sh*t out of me was The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Very scary movie and of course if you know of the Catholic religion or practice it, it'll definitely give you a good scare.
You list The Exorcist, well this one was similiar but much more graphic. This movie is still worth seeing even if you did see The Exorcist.
Phantasm. The surreal atmosphere and the stoic evil antagonist always sent a chill down my spine.
McPhersons Tape. love it just search for it on youtube
the color purple.
the thought of oprah winfrey and whoopie goldberg on one film scared the bejeesus out of me.
