"Life of Brian" - so perceptive about some of the sillier aspects of religion but not really anti-Christian.
So many funny scenes: the line of people waiting to be crucified where Palin asks why they're in line. Idle says (paraphrasing): "Crucifixion? No, they told me I could just go to an island somewhere."
I suppose the scene that sums up the entire movie is where the different anti-Roman factions are in the tunnel and someone starts talking about their enemy. Someone else shrieks, "The Judean People's Front?"
"No! The Romans!"
That scene so beautifully points out what often happens when people group to fight problems. They end up fighting other groups who are fighting their common enemy instead of uniting to fight their common enemy.
That was a terrible explanation and does no justice to the humor, especially if you haven't seen the film. But... you probably have. There are so many funny lines and scenes... Biggus Dickus... the guy hanging upside down.. the centurion correcting Chapman's graffiti... just a great movie in many ways.
