I've read them all, and seen all the movies except "Golden Compass"....and I can't pick any over the rest!
They are all wonderfully imaginative, fascinating, and captivating.
And to the assholes who say the Pullman books are about "killing God"---they ARE NOT. Anyone who believes that hasn't bothered to read them!
The trilogy by Philip Pullman is an amazing accomplishment and reflects the 1990s- 2000s better than the Harry Potter series did [Deathly Hallows is a terrrible disappointment in several ways]; the Narnia series is more than a little bit outdated. I don't believe that full-scale movies will be produced by the major studios on SUBTLE KNIFE and AMBER SPYGLASS. . .
cant really say which ones better... narnia is like a classic. but his dark materials series is also very good. i never read harry potter, but watched all the movies to date. and i think its more... commercialized.. i dont know... =T
