Im trying to identify a movie from just opening scenes. 1970s conspiracy thrille!
Question: This has been driving me mad for ages now. Set in (early?) 1970s, a guy who works for a us govt agency in a basement office (could be robert redford/warren beatty type actor) goes out to shop for a snack and when he gets back to office, everyone has been assassinated. The rest of the film is him trying to avoid also being killed bcos he escaped the massacre and finding out what happened and why, not knowing who he can trust along the way. I have tried searching imdb and amazon searches to try to jog my memory but no luck. Id be very very glad if someone has an idea what movie this was and can identify it for me. Thank you.

Sounds like Three Days of the Condor to me. Robert Redford.
