Using the base storyline of a game would work in some small way but it is NOT the best idea for making any kind of movie in any kind of genre ... why ... because a game changes every single time you play it and basing a movie on something like that is impossible.
Lucas IS making another Star Wars movie ... Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be in theaters on August 15th this year. It is a full length ANIMATED movie. It is the kick off to a TV series of the same name that will debut this fall on the Cartoon Network. This is not a new "episode" of the saga ... it is a fill in the blanks kind of movie set inbetween ep II & ep III.
Lucas has written it in stone that there will NOT be anymore "live action" movies made. Depending on how this new animated movie works for fans ... if it works well and makes him lots of money I would dare say that we will see many more animated feature movies in the future ... it's the perfect way to continue the saga.
Lucas is working on a "live action" TV series set to debut in the fall of 2009. It will be set in between ep III & ep IV and will tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance was formed and their early battles with the Empire leading up to the events of ep IV.

No, I don't think so. Star Wars should just be left alone.
In my opinion but the man is such a genious he may be able 2 pull something else out his hat but I say leave perfection where it is.
But now that i think about it if he did a story on the origin of the Emperor (Lord Sidiuos) his pre-quels about him and his master and how he came about, i can't lie i would definetly check it out on the big screen.
He has already said he won't so fan petitions aren't likely to sway him.
