After all the sweat, blood and tears, you have finally finished your masterpiece, your own film. Now all you have to do is pay off all the loans you took out in order to make the newfound classic, not to mention earn your millions after a major studio finds out about your little production and decides to make it into a big budget Hollywood blockbuster.

Step 1:
Tell everyone you know that you made a film and would love it if they gave their support and told everyone they knew and so on and so on. Sometimes the most original films studied by film students are those that are passed on by word of mouth.

Step 2:
Post flyers online, around your town or city, and in schools or universities. Anywhere you think people frequent most is where you need to go to get the word out that you have made a film.

Step 3:
Show your film to the masses. With the flyers you have posted, include a day and time where you are going to screen your film and then afterward have a table set up where people can purchase copies of DVDs of your film.

Step 4:
Enter your film into film festivals so even more people can see it. The more people see what you have worked on, the better your chances that you will receive feedback on it. Any feedback is great feedback.

Step 5:
Send your film to networks and film industries. It may be a stretch but you have nothing to lose, except the cost of the DVD and maybe some of your time. Nevertheless, include with your film an introduction, the reasons why you decided to make the film and a quick, eye-catching synopsis.

You should probably announce the film at IMDB. Then register a domain name for the film and develop a web site where you can distribute press information and later publicity materials online (see end if you need hosting, design or domain name services).

The web gives you a global reach and you can save a bundle on promotional costs (packaging, postage, photographic labs) not to mention time. Distribution of publicity materials in a digital form is becoming the norm and the one obvious place the media or even someone interested in buying your film will think of looking every time is your website. Where before images were distributed in transparency and black-and-white images, digital formats (usually JPEGs or TIF files) are becoming the norm.

Journalists may file away the snazzy print press package that was given to them at a festival for future use, but they are as likely to download and print off production notes from a website when needed.

Make sure you add your site to Google and Yahoo! so people can find it and check your meta tags are optimised for all search engines (a professional web designer will do all this).

A good site can help generate publicity for a film before it even premieres. There is no doubt that Morgan Spurlock's fatty-food web site for Super Size Me, contributed to its huge buzz at the Sundance Film Festival. Spurlock went on to win the director's award, a distribution deal and his own television reality show called 30 Days.

Oh yes..What is your movies name.So I can watch it..I'm not real picky but I would love to know..with your question you should put a movie's name and what about? and When is due out?

Oh..email me and tell me when you're movie is up or go to youtube to upload a bit part..Sneak peaks..is what does it for me..If I like the sneakpeak more likely I will watch it.

http://my.spill.com/profile/Judyisabel--... is my site for movies and Reviews..

I'm a women by the way..Not a DOG..lol haha..oh yeah..is better spill than myspace and you can upload anything..eh.

good luck.

Facebook!!!

One good website that I always hit up is somethingelsetv.com . If that doesn't work you can always do the facebook promotion, along with myspace, and other social sites you belong too. Really, just spam the **** out of everyone you know till they show up.

Ok ask yourself this one question..."Why would I want to see this movie?"

Then ask 10 people this question
"Why do you watch movies?"

Already there you have market research on the strengths of your product and also what the market is looking for. Now start to marry the 2 up.

Also who is in the movie? How was it made? Where was it made? can you get local interest on the Actors or locations?

Is it topical?

Local news and Newspapers love "local guys make good."

Then there is viral marketing. Think of something attention grabbing and different. Take Cloverfield. It started by showing little clips that really gave no full blown idea what the film was but hooked people in. If you film had a character loves say ping pong. Send a ping pong ball or bat to the local paper or TV with the title on it or give them out at the local Sports club. Anything to get people talking or interested!

Also set up a page on Facebook, Myspace and youtube. Do a music video of clips to popular songs or ask local band to write a song for a trailer and offer them publicity along with the movie.

I could go on..But I don't want to do your job for you!

Good luck anyway!

If I were you I would look at the movie first
Then ask yourself if this is a movie that the audience would love to watch it.
Then ask other people about it and see what they think (Let them pretend to be the audience for awhile)
Finally, give it your final opinion.

I hope this helps
