you bet its a hoot to watch...with Tony Curtis..he makes a cute woman & jack lemmon & Marylin Munroe and the funny comedian Joe E. Brown. (Zowie..lol) .classic and funny!!!!!!
I think Some Like It Hot is a very good film, but I'm not sure it is great. Certainly it is a classic comedy, and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are very good, as is Joe E. Brown. Sugar Kane also comes off as a very entertaining character, which is something of a miracle considering how screwed up Monroe was during the filming. Billy Wilder worried continually about Monroe during the making of the film, and the final scene was improvised because Monroe wasn't available yet again the day the film was set to wrap. By and large, Some Like it Hot is a well remembered film and it certainly enhanced Wilder's reputation, but the men pretending to be women aspect doesn't work as well now as it did in the sixties; the film is smirky from the point where Josephine and Geraldine are introduced and that smirkyness erodes the much better set-up about the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Only when Raft shows up again as "Spats" does the movie become compelling. Despite the minor flaws, and the unexpected baggage of alternative sexuality the film picked up since it was made, it is still highly entertaining, and Curtis' parody of Cary Grant is still hilarious. Some Like it Hot may not be a great film, but it is still a very good one despite not aging as well as it looked like it would when it was fresh.
