Why does every slasher film have sex scenes?!

Question: It's unneccessary.

Answers: It's unneccessary.

Didn't you watch Scream? It's explained in that movie pretty well. The characters who have sex in the movie are the most likely to die, according to the logic that is given in Scream. And it's true in most cases; though interestingly enough, it is not true in Scream!

From Wikipedia:

A signature device, started in the first film and continued in the second and third film, was the typical "rules" for that type of horror movie being stated by the characters. In the first film, those rules (as described by Randy) are:

-You may not survive the movie if you have sex.
-You may not survive the movie if you drink or do drugs.
-You may not survive the movie if you say "I'll be right back."

Additional rules (according to the killer):

-You may not survive the movie if you ask "Who's there?"
-You shouldn't go out to investigate a strange noise if you wish to survive.
-Never believe the killer is dead, as he'll return for one last scare...

Because in a horror movie it's always been that the virgin lives. If you see two people having sex in a horror movie kiss them goodbye. Also, since most of them are rated R and the movie producers are expecting teens, boobs are a plus.

we were just talkin about that-must be a requirement and also when u go looking for some horror "creature" u have to wear a tank top and no bra-lol-and at one point get down to your underwear-can't get killed by a creature fully clothed :P

lmao i agreee... probably just to like mellow out the movie... i don't like slasher films that much but i couldn't stand it if the whole movie was just bloody violence. but i agree.. they aren't neccessary at all.

It's all formulaic.
Slasher movies today have no plot, thus they have to put SOMETHING in. Insert a handful of hot teenager, sex, booze and blood and there you have something that America will go to see because lord knows they don't look for quality these days.

Well the first rule of surving a slasher film is don't have sex. So if no one had sex who would they kill?

and typically they are a commentary on all things wrong with society. Teenage care free sex and drug use and graphic violence.

great question

it is against the law to make a slasher flick w/out sex otherwise there is no one for the slasher to killclalifornia passed that law in the mid 70's lol actuallyu sun elain nailed it gets my vote 4 best answer
