Yeah, yeah, i know where you're going!. i liked the old-fashioned, kick-*** movies, except for one thing: the lack of technology!. sure, it's pansy to rely on CGI, but think of all the impossible stunts they couldn't do in the old days!. now triple it!. If there's one thing i'm glad that's happening in action movies now, that's it!.
technically, action movies try to make mass media appeal simply because movies right now try to reach wider markets!. look at beowulf!. it's made form the same technology responsible for those films like madagascar!. and it's being used for gore!. business is slim nowadays and producers really try to make more money of the movies they make!. even if that means making the movie suck!.

Hollywood wants as many people as possible to see the movies they release, so they try to make everyone happy!. Unfortunatly, that usually either destroys the movie, or annoys the crap out of real fans of the genre!.
They've done the same thing to horror movies by removing almost all of the violence to get PG-13 ratings, and making all of the characters one-liner spewing idiots!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Anyway a lot of mainstream films today are not worth the time it takes to make them sadly!. I don't know whether it's art mirroring life or the other way round but the Jolies!. Pitts, Cruises etc are not a patch on the Davis's, Crawfords, Cagneys, and any other quality actor and film you care to mention!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
