Does Cloverfield suck?!

Question: Does Cloverfield suck!?
I haven't seen it, and when it came out in theaters, the previews were very mysterious and I wanted to see it!. I didn't get to, and now that it's out on dvd, I see all these commercials with some big dumb looking cgi monster!. I thought it was going to be an intense psychological type movie!. Usually big CGI monsters make a movie suck for me, so is this basically what it's about!? Is it like a moderized Godzilla or something!? If so, someone tell me so I don't waste my time and money watching it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
No, it does not suck!. However, it is not a movie for everyone (for several reasons, one of them being that it can cause motion-sickness, others just don't like those types of stories or this particular plot)!. It is more of a suspense-drama than a horror film!. The movie doesn't focus too heavily on the actual creatures in the movie!. It is psychological for the viewer!. Part of the beauty was not knowing what was causing all the trouble, but after the movie came out and especially on DVD, they just gave it away (much like The Fog, which I haven't seen yet, but it has been ruined because they reveal the creatures in the Fog)!.

It is not a modern Godzilla because again, the focus is not on the monster, but on a few people trying to survive and particularly a guy who loves a girl so much he is willing to risk his life to go get her!. They marketed mysteriously to draw away from the monster!. The results of the monster plowing through Manhattan (explosions, falling buildings, military action, people dying, smoke and dust) is more fearful and important than the monster it self!. The journey of the people that the camera follows is the key to the story!. They could have supplanted the monster with an enemy country's military invasion, a major accident involving a military ship in the harbor, the end of the world, etc!. Some people thought it was about terrorism (as I thought it was too up until I accidentally saw a brief spoiler before the movie even came out)!.

I loved the movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

in a word

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

huge waste if timeWww@Enter-QA@Com

I'm gonna have to say YES!. You see the whole monster for like half a second at the end of the movie!. But, that's not what made it suck, the shitty camera work took care of that from the jump!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it was different, but i lost interest directly after you saw the very overrated monsterWww@Enter-QA@Com

i loved it!.i saw it 2 in the theaters!.
but it is a iffy movie some love some hate!.
it is filmed as if evidence to the goverment of a kid filming the whole time!.so it is very shky and he trips a lot!.it had a few funny jokes like flaming homless people!.haha!.
the guy was quite funny!.
i think everyone should see it just to see it!.
it doesnt hav the best ending!.
and m\watch for little clues like when they are on the feris wheel you see the alian go into the ocean in the background!.
and it is about a monster killing everyone!.

i thought it was pretty interesting!.so i would say go see it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You don't even see the monster, just flashes of it!.
I hated the movie!. I thought it was going to be an intense monster movie, but instead it turned out to be a really lame love story!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah, it is a monster flick, but i do like the way it was filmed-from a hand held camera angle!. my brother rented it and i watched it!. it was okay!. i wouldn't buy it, but it was entertaining!. shrugWww@Enter-QA@Com

To the point, Either you will enjoy the movie or not enjoy the movie for specific reasons, The way the movie was filmed through a 35mm camera (caused motion sickness) The monster is shown in bits & pieces (not like a godzilla movie)!.
Now the reason i enjoyed this movie is the same reasons why people did not enjoy it ,i felt the 35mm fiming was genius and it kept you in suspense what the monster looked like and gave it a realism to the craft (it would of been dull if they eliminated the camera aspect and just shown the monster, hello it did not work with the american version of godzilla !)
The acting is kinda of cheezy but what do you expect from a giant monster movie (not horror but considred sci fi) i am sure people who are critiquing this film did not go seeing it with an open mind & the last film to accomplish this style of filming was Blair Witch Project and it became a huge success in the box office !.
The final thing i have to say is that this film does have an apocalyptic setting that does remind me of 911, but again you have already stated that big cgi monsters suck for you so im taking it that you have already made up your mind!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
