Ok, so I am going to be a movie director/scriptwriter and I was just wondering!. I am only in grade 10 right now, I have started making a story for my 1st low budget movie that I would make, today I made the characters for it, and I will start writing a script soon!.
But what I want to know is if I want to make a reference to another movie, for example like a little send-up, how do I get the permission to do so!? Do I just call the person responsible for it and ask if it is ok!?

Dude, as a fellow filmmaker, I suggest you start small!. A professional camera is pricey and I doubt you will find a producer to back a 10th graders script!. How about you get small jobs on local films such as a production assistant, gradually you will work your way up!. I am a 9th grader who also aspires to be a filmmaker!. I just got my first job yesterday as production assistant on a music video!. Trust me, you cannot just jump into the film business!. Work your way up!.
