Question: How come there are no women in "the jedi counsel" in the Star Wars epic!?

There are two women in the Jedi Council in the first 2 films (they are hard to see in most of the shots though)!.
The two females on the Jedi Council are Adi Gallia:

There were at least 2 women on the Council through the course of the Clone Wars: Depa Billaba, Mace Windu's former apprentice, and Adi Gallia!. Neither of these women are in the movies, but in other media (books and such) they are there!. One book set right after the Battle of Geonosis details Depa's fall to the Dark Side, and Mace Windu's attempts to bring her back to the light!. Really a good read!
